Welcome and thank you for visiting Done Dreaming.  My name is Deb and I share my life with Harvey, a goldendoodle and Max the rescue cat.

As I write this I’m at a point in my life where I need a Plan B.  This is proving particularly elusive, especially as I never did have a Plan A!  At school the ‘careers talk’ didn’t throw up any useful contribution to where my life was going to go and my own admission of desperately wanting to be a British Airways air hostess was met with ‘well that’s not really a career dear’.

So far I’ve had more variety than I’d anticipated – travel agent (absolutely loved it), marketing consultant (free chocolate opens more doors than you’d believe), a stint in recruitment (lost all faith in humanity), and my last ‘gig’ which has been a total roller-coaster (loved the people, had no life).

In a book by Summer Pierre called The Artist in the Office, there is a sentence that really hit home to me – “We save our real selves for the cracks and corners of our off time”.  What do you do when the ‘cracks and corners’ don’t amount to much, when they are no longer enough?

This prompted the birth of Done Dreaming.  I do still dream but I’m widening the cracks and corners so the real me has more space to wiggle, space to grow, space to aim beyond what I’m capable of.  As I search to improve my skills and experiences I hope I can share my endeavours with you.  I’ll leave you with this …  (if you get chance, read the whole of the lyrics):
